LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Symphonie Nr. 9 d-Moll op. 125
"Brothers, above the starry canopy, a loving father must dwell," is the famous line from Schiller's Ode "To Joy." The recently renovated Stadthalle Göttingen now offers music once again a celestial soundscape: With its grand reopening on this concert evening, music regains a magnificent home that befits Schiller's humanistic ideals in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Let us begin the year 2024, which also marks the 200th anniversary of the premiere of Beethoven's masterpiece, with full of dreams: From soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voices - which indeed exceeded the traditional concept of a symphony - a harmonious sound emerges. Brothers (and the sisters that Schiller overlooked in his time) stand together: "This kiss to the entire world!"
