Finally, we return to the Stadthalle! For this joyful occasion, Chief Conductor Nicholas Milton brings a truly cheerful symphony: Johannes Brahms' Summer Symphony, his Second Symphony, which captures the Austrian landscape that the native Hamburger enjoyed at the time, in sounds. It's like listening to blue skies, sunshine, and colorful flowers... The concert and the new Stadthalle will be opened with Ludwig van Beethoven's third Leonore Overture, which essentially portrays the entire opera "Fidelio" in miniature. As Wagner remarked, "Far from just providing a musical introduction to the drama, it presents it to us already more complete and moving..." So, enjoy this musical drama in the new/old concert hall!
