Three Preludes
A trio in the family circle was everyday life in the Schubert house. And so the young Franz wrote his Allegro, which sounded a bit like Mozart and Haydn - which was not followed by any further movements. Bach's three-movement Italian Concerto, published in 1735, refers not only in the title but also musically to the baroque traditions of the south, which Luigi Boccherini later expanded on. These works are contrasted by our Composer in Focus: Just a few years ago, Matthew Hindson wrote “12345678” for violin and double bass, which is being performed here for the first time in Europe. And the conclusion of this chamber concert is a string arrangement of George Gershwin's three furiously dreamy piano preludes. A trio can be so versatile!
